The District's budget affects your everyday life in many ways, and so you’re invited to learn about what the budget includes, and how budget decisions are made.
The budget is about the parks you visit, the roads you drive on, and the trails, recreation programs, emergency services, drinking water and community spaces (among so much more) that help make Squamish the place we call home.
At the same time, our community continues to grow. Demand for infrastructure and services is increasing, while costs continue to rise, outpacing property tax revenue and other funding sources.
There are many choices to make, with trade-offs in every decision.
Each year, the District develops a 10-Year Financial Plan to balance today's needs and tomorrow's priorities.
We invite you to learn how the Financial Plan (2027-2036) prioritizes the projects and services important to you. Please join us and follow along over the next three months as the proposed budget is discussed.

What We're Working to Balance
The budget isn't just a spreadsheet.
It's a series of choices about how we invest in Squamish – one of Canada's fastest-growing communities.
Some of the questions we're exploring include:
- How do we maintain and replace aging facilities and underground infrastructure?
- What capital investments are most important as Squamish grows?
- How do we balance municipal service levels with affordability for taxpayers?
- Where should limited resources be focused?
- What projects should be prioritized over the next several years?
There is rarely agreement on every topic, but hearing a range of perspectives helps us make better decisions.

What happens to your input?
Your feedback will be reviewed and shared with Council as part of budget deliberations.
After engagement closes, we will publish a What We Heard Report summarizing key themes, community priorities, and perspectives.
